Any new discipline (even a spur of the moment 30 day commitment) requires an amount of sacrifice, and that fact hit me hard yesterday. I do my paperwork for my job every two weeks on monday night...bad day to start a blogrimage. So, I ended up getting to bed quite late and getting up very early, but I do feel fantastic.
With this opportunity to commit for 30 of recording I want to document some of my research and inspirations. Yesterday and today I have been thinking about the city that I recently moved very close to: Detroit. The more time I spend in the city and learn of its history, the more I am inspired. The text on the picture above states: "books are doors to wide new ways." That is the entrance of the McGregor Public Library closed since I don't know when. Yesterday I started researching more on the city when I discovered a new soccer league called the Detroit City Futbol league. As I looked up the various neighborhoods represented in the league I was floored by the mix of beauty and devastation. And I couldn't help, but ask,
Bonus: I am also inspired by mash-ups, here's a favorite with Marvin's classic:

It's crazy what's going on in Detroit, but I think it is opening the door to a lot of emotion and--hopefully--inspiration.
Hey, would you post your updates on the blogrimage profile so we know to read your new blog!
Love this though. Looking forward to the songs.
If you can, make an R and B song and include the name "Sarah Addy" in the chorus and I can get it played in some Japanese club!
Good stuff bro! It's great to see God stirring up a passion in you for Detroit!! Rock it out
Bibeau, man, good to see you're alive and well. My prayers are with you.
If you're lookin for a garage to play in - our Detroit home has been vacant for a year now... It's a great little place - but the property values have so declined that it's worth a grand total of$4,000 - the bank doesn't even want to foreclose... crazy. Detroit is a seriously ripe mission field.
