Fighting Peacocks

So there is a bunch of crap going down in South-East Asia. Last I heard 4,000 monks have been detained and they are all to be sent out of the capital city of Ragoon and into prisons in the north. The last time there were protests of this magnitude in Burma was in October of 1988 when around 3,000 people were killed. The flag that they brandished during the protests was the fighting peacock.
This flag has resurfaced during the most recent protests. This is such a different concept for me to think of a peacock as a fierce symbol of freedom, but I think that it perfectly illustrates how different my culture is from the east. I don't understand it at all and I am not even about to try, but I think that it is pretty awesome that it is so different. The reason that makes me interested in the situation in Burma is because I am going there!! It's gonna be nuts, but I don't see why not. There is an amazing web site that has tons of research and statistics on unreached people groups called: www.joshuaproject.net . I was doing some looking around on the website when I found that the Burmese people are a large unreached people group. Only 0.1% of the population is Christian and 0.07% of that are evangelical Christians. That is a huge majority of 97.2% Buddhists. The Christians of this nation are heavily persecuted, rated 19th of the most persecuted countries. But don't believe me, look up these things for yourself. It is sure to spark your interest.

My friend Marcus Streater when to Burma last summer. He peached the message: "Run to the Battle Line," Marcus Streater, you caused a revolution!

whoa! A peacock? That's not what I associate with freedom either. I'm stoked that you get to go to Burma! Rock out my friend!
